Proverbs 19

Proverbs 19

This mornings proverb is from chapter 19.
“Better is the poor that walketh in his integrity, than he that is perverse in his lips, and is a fool. Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth.
A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.
He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good. A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish.
The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.
He that keepeth the commandment keepeth his own soul; but he that despiseth his ways shall die.
Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end.
The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭19:1-2, 5, 8-9, 11, 16, 20, 22‬ ‭KJV‬‬
The contrast between being a true witness and a false witness goes farther than what is said it speaks about actions following the words. As followers of truth we shouldn’t allow worldly interests or plans absorb our time and attention. People who are following false gods aren’t turned from them by condemnation of their false worship but by seeing or understanding something better. We have to show God’s goodness and blessings in our lives to be known. “Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭43:10‬. We have a calling and a purpose to be the living examples of God’s blessings. “I the Lord have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭42:6‬ Letting Him shine in our lives means giving Him that direction so we can reflect that light. He calls saying “My Spirit alone is competent to teach and to convict of sin. Externals make only a temporary impression upon the mind. I will enforce truth on the conscience, and men shall be My witnesses, throughout the world asserting My claims on man’s time, his money, his intellect.” All of those things are needed to show we aren’t holding back for ourselves in any way. That nothing is more important than the light of truth. As we follow Him step by step we will have areas we can point others to showing how we tested him and he showed his promises true. In this way we are to be witnesses showing God’s grace to a world that is dying for a lack of it. Directing every eye to be turned to the light. Have an awesome day.
