Proverbs 18

Proverbs 18

Today’s proverb comes from chapter 18.
“Whoever isolates himself seeks his own desire; he breaks out against all sound judgment. A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion.
The words of a man’s mouth are deep waters; the fountain of wisdom is a bubbling brook.
A fool’s mouth is his ruin, and his lips are a snare to his soul.
The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe.
Before destruction a man’s heart is haughty, but humility comes before honor.
An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits. He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭18:1-2, 4, 7, 10, 12, 15, 21-22‬ ‭
The words we speak are so powerful. Even when we have stopped speaking they resonate and linger doing the damage or continuing to heal. It is up to us to prepare each word we speak carefully to be well thought and presented as one would present a beautiful meal. Just like bitter medicine can be sweetened with honey to ease the passing we should seek to present the truth with humility and the truest love for the person that the truth is sure to cut. It is never a comfortable process to remove the layers of scar tissue and scabs that cover an infected wound. Thorough explanation and gentle direction of application we should express a tender love for those we desire to see free of infection with salvations healing. It is a diligent and daily practice of growing our knowledge of truth and applying the repeated practice to develop the character to reflect that healing light. We are directed to love the sinner but hate the sin. “keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life. And have mercy on those who doubt; save others by snatching them out of the fire; to others show mercy with fear, hating even the garment stained by the flesh.”
‭‭Jude‬ ‭1:21-23‬ ‭ Keep the truth simple spoken sincerely from Gods word. It isn’t our thoughts or words but the Word of God that is to cut its way to the heart. When the Lord’s voice calls, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” the Divine Spirit puts it into hearts to respond: “Here am I; send me.” Isaiah 6:8. We come as we are with blood on our hands and unclean lips. The living fire must clean us first to prepare us to speak with His words and act in His love. Have an awesome day.
