Proverbs 16

Proverbs 16

Today’s Proverb is in chapter 16.
“All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the Lord weigheth the spirits. Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.
Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished. By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the Lord men depart from evil. When a man’s ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him. Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right.
A just weight and balance are the Lord’s: all the weights of the bag are his work.
Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right.
How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!
The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips. Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭16:2-3, 5-8, 11, 13, 16, 23-24, 32‬
The heart is at the core of the matter. Our words are a reflection of what we are thinking about. In all things our thoughts and actions should be guided by Loving God above anything else and other people as we love ourselves. That is standard by which we adjust all weights and balances for the true measure of what is right and fair. Our spirits are to be tempered like the strongest metal that is folded and molded in the forge to bring out the weapon of choice for any battle. The Apostle Peter wrote on how to practice building our characters “And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭1:5-8‬ ‭
To bring out “the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭5:22-23‬ This is the character that is the prize to those who overcome the world and win the race of eternal life. Have an awesome day!
