Proverbs 15

Proverbs 15

Today’s proverb is from chapter 15. I especially liked
“A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger. The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness. The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good. A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.
The lips of the wise disperse knowledge: but the heart of the foolish doeth not so. The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord: but the prayer of the upright is his delight. The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the Lord: but he loveth him that followeth after righteousness.
A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!
The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭15:1-4, 7-9, 23, 33‬ ‭
What a powerful force our speech is. It can be used to heal or destroy. Like anything of such powerful capability it should be focused and respected. There should be a great emphasis in training of its use and there should be careful evaluation of the user’s intention and purpose. Unfortunately modern society is being programmed to be less concerned with content and are conditioned to call attention to trivial selfish narcissism. The effect is taking its toll and the issues we see as a direct result is a loss of identity being replaced with a “spectrum” of nonspecific garbage. Where form follows function our society is fallen to a giant self seeking black hole sucking out joy, peace, purpose and love. False shows of “sacrifice” and “religious pretense” have replaced the humble and repentant Spirit. Instead of being reborn in a daily dedication to following the search for truth the conscience is sedated with a weekly check in and the blackened dying souls are wrapped in traditional shrouds of pretense as they line up for the pseudo religious parades. God isn’t calling us to impress each other or gain any personal attention. We are to recognize our need of Him and ask for the strength to battle the issues we ourselves struggle with daily and to uplift those around us by pointing them to our Creator. When He calls to our thoughts and hearts we should follow without concern for how we may be perceived or how difficult the task may seem. There are many whose hearts are aching under a load of care because they seek to reach the world’s standard. Worry is blind, and can not discern the future; but Jesus sees the end from the beginning. In every difficulty He has His way prepared to bring relief. “No good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly.” Because of our troubled hearts, because we are afraid to trust ourselves with God we do not make a complete surrender to Him. Unless we make this surrender, we will not find peace. Those who accept the one principle of making the service of God supreme, will find worries fall away, and a plain path become clear. We should not study something to see what the least we can do is reaching the lowest standard. Knowledge of the truth should inspire us to learn the fullness of our Creator to do as much to best of our abilities as we know we are ultimately doing our work for Him. “comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.”
